About Mrs. Mindy Dushane

Mindy Dushane has been a part of Music and Theatre for over 30 years.   She studied Interdisciplinary Music Studies at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.  She continues to further her education in Vocal Performance and Vocal Health. 

 

Over the years, Mindy has performed in show choir concerts and plays all across Florida.   She has been teaching, producing, and directing local Musical Theatre productions for over sixteen years.   During this time, she assisted with voice, staging, and set design at the Saint Augustine Community Theatre.   As well as having the privilege of being the Stage Director for the Alive Ministries camp for high school.  Mindy has also worked in multiple settings, including adult and children’s choirs and ensembles, both as a performer and director, in the Jacksonville area.   Mindy particularly enjoys working with the K-12 age group.  Encouraging excellence in an atmosphere that inspires confidence and growth. 

Mindy specializes in voice, drama, and stage performance.  Emphasizing the importance of a “triple threat” in the professional worlds of Dance/ Theatre/ and Voice.   She takes a medical approach to her vocal teaching while focusing on the importance of proper vocal health.   Mindy is a performance-based educator with the desire to help each student achieve success as a performer.

Since 2011, Mindy has directed and produced several full productions.   These include the regional premiere of “Alice by Heart,”  the regional premiere of “Imaginary,”  “Little Shop of Horrors,”  “Secret Garden,”  “Little Women,” “Murder on the Orient Express,”  “Not So Grimm Tales,”  “The Wizard of Oz,”  “The Headless Horseman Rides Again,”  “A Christmas Carol 'Goes Wrong',”  “Alice in Wonderland,” “Wickedly Wizard of Oz,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Xanadu,” “A Chorus Line,” “Into the Woods,” “The Real Story of Little Red Riding Hood,” “Shrek,” “Willy Wonka,” and “Peter Pan.” 

She has written, produced, and directed many successful Musical Theatre Summer programs.   These one-act themed cabarets include; “Aristocats,” “Jungle Book,” “Frozen,” “The Lion King,” and “Annie.”   Her most recent summer production was an original she wrote, titled “After Ever After”. 

Mindy has been the proud director of a children’s Thespian troupe she founded in 2015.   Through this program, she has achieved numerous high-achievement awards, including Access Broadway's “Best Musical Theatre School” in 2019, 2022, and 2023, and Access Broadway's “Best Director” in 2020.  In 2023 and 2024, her team brought home the National Title of “Best Senior Musical Theatre School.”
